Tres académicos de Geografía UC participaron en Congreso INQUA 2015
La Asociación Internacional del Cuaternario (INQUA, por sus siglas en inglés) realiza un congreso cada cuatro años, en diferentes ciudades del mundo. Este año, la ciudad sede del congreso fue Nagoya, Japón. Este congreso es uno de los más importantes dentro de las ciencias cuaternarias, convocando a 1500-2000 participantes. El Instituto de Geografía UC contó con la destacada participación de tres de sus profesores: Esteban Sagredo, Juan Luis García y Fabrice Lambert.
Los trabajos presentados por nuestros profesores fueron:
- Esteban Sagredo: “Fluctuations of Tranquilo glacier during the Last Glacial Termination: the northernmost record of glacial expansion in South America during the Antarctic Cold Reversal”
- Juan Luis García: (1) “MIS 3 maximum glacial extent of southern Patagonian glaciers during the last glacial period as inferred from extensive 10Be moraine dating and glacial modeling”; (2) “Late Pleistocene climate variability in central Chile as inferred from OSL dating of ancient coastal sand dunes and paleosoils”; y (3) “The role of humans in fire dynamics since the late Pleistocene at the eastern Andean flank of central Patagonia (Aisen, Chile)”
- Fabrice Lambert: "Dust Concentrations and Radiative Forcing in Holocene and Last Glacial Maximum Climates" y "Dust Fluxes and Iron Fertilization in Holocene and Last Glacial Maximum Climates"
