juan luis garcia webGeomorfólogo (Ph.D. U. Maine), director del Laboratorio de Isótopos Cosmogénicos y Paleoclima del Cuaternario UC, cuyo interés es entender la interacción entre la criósfera-atmósfera-océano a escala local, regional y global y de esta forma determinar los mecanismos que promueven las glaciaciones y los cambios climaticos en el hemisferio austral. Igualmente, el Dr. García investiga los ambientes glaciales y periglaciales actuales y su respuesta al cambio climático, usando técnicas de la geomorfología y geocronología. Recientemente investiga el origen e implicancias paleoclimáticas de  los archivos de paleodunas y paleosuelos de la costa de Chile central.

Scientific Interest
I'm a glacial geomorphologist (Ph.D. U. Maine) whose main interest is to understand the interaction between the cryosphere-atmosphere-ocean at regional and global scales and thereby the drivers of past glaciations in the southern hemisphere. Also, I'm interested in how present day glacial environments are responding to climate change. I'm interested in participating in projects that aim to reconstruct past glacial and climate histories as well as historic to present-day glacier dynamics. My main goal is to improve our knowledge about the past, present and future of the glaciers in the Central and Southern Andes.
